“For 30 years, my family and I have called Riverton home.
I am running to serve you on the City Council so that the next 30 years are just as good for you and your family in Riverton."
Shannon Smith is working hard to earn your vote and represent you!
Riverton has been a great place to raise our children! We are deeply involved in the community through service, sports, and the arts.
I’ve served as PTA President and Legislative Representative for Riverton K-12 schools. I led the reorganization of the Rosamond Elementary School fundraiser and was in charge of fundraising for Riverton High’s graduation night.
My husband and family have owned and operated a small business since 1987. We understand the challenges of running a business, making payroll, and the need to limit government regulations.
I graduated from USU in Political Science, I spent time working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and worked in economic development for the State of Utah. I understand how government should work at the federal, state and local levels. I also understand that when government falls short of its duties or exceeds its authority, it can cause real harm to good people.
Riverton is my home. I care deeply about our community and the people in it. If you will entrust me with your vote for city council, I will work tirelessly to preserve the great Riverton lifestyle we have come to expect.
ENDORSEMENTS
"During my 44 years teaching politics and economics at Utah State University, Shannon Smith stood out as one of my most impressive students. I was so confident in her abilities that I invited her to work with me on research projects—an opportunity I reserved for only the very best. Since then, I have followed her professional achievements and her deep involvement in her community with great admiration.
Shannon combines a sharp mind with wisdom, careful listening, and the courage to make difficult decisions. She has consistently demonstrated a commitment to public service and to strengthening her community. I am confident that she will bring the same integrity, thoughtfulness, and energy to serving on the Riverton City Council."

Ryan and Tina Davis,
District 4 Residents (former)
"The most important thing I look for when voting for a public servant is someone who has integrity and who seeks out the opinions and desires of her constituents. Shannon Smith is this person. Shannon has been knocking on doors for weeks, introducing herself to everyone in her district and listening to their concerns. This is hard, hot, uncomfortable work—something that Shannon is happy and willing to do because she cares about her community..
I’ve known Shannon for twenty-five years. She’s kind, honest, is a good listener and values her relationships with others and is always willing to listen to your ideas. She’s a hard worker—whether it’s raising money for the PTA, helping out her neighbors and friends or working in the community. Shannon understands the importance of using funds wisely and building strong partnerships that will benefit the community. She cares about the future of Riverton and you. It will be my extreme pleasure to vote for Shannon for city council, district 4. Vote for Shannon; you’ll be glad you did."

“Shannon was a pleasure to work with on the Riverton High School PTSA. We worked there for many years and she served as fundraiser and graduation chair for the two years while I was PTA president. Shannon understands fiscal responsibility and worked to build strong, mutually beneficial partnerships. She understands how to stretch funds to do the most good and have the greatest impact on those she serves. These are all amazing traits that will serve the Riverton community well.”
